Black boas were born last night! More>

momof200 Oct 10, 2004 04:37 PM

We awoke to a very small clutch/litter of black boas this morning. There were 2 very fat and healthy females, one stillborn female, along with 13 slugs. The one stillborn is smaller than the other two, but appears to be full term. As most of you know, we aren't into morphs, but this animal appears to be a hypo.

Thanks for looking,
Stacy

of your beloved Black Boas!
Tell Bill I also said sorry about the tough luck... 3 bad litters back to back.. by this time one would think you could've ruled out many possibilities on why so many slugs and all.. but these things happen.. atleast you have 2 more beautiful babies to add to the line!

The stillborn definately looks hypo, but then again that could be just the lack of all color since it wasn't fully developed.. this usually happens in premies/stillborns.. they are the ones lacking some pattern and melanin and whatnot.. beautiful nonetheless! I would keep her.. maybe in the freezer!
Hey, maybe next year you produce a LIVE one and can compare!

Either way, congrats on another litter this year!

Thanks for posting and take care guys!

that coloration could be the result of a premature death in the womb...they tend to pigment up at the very end, so oftentimes people will get stillborns or premies that appear hypo...then again??? If it was hypo, what a bummer, that would have been a cool snake (and I'm not a morph guy either).

cheers,
gabriel
