nutribac questions. anyone familiar with using on boas?

Trueredtails Oct 10, 2004 04:44 PM

I have a female suri that I have had for about 2 years and she has a very poor appetite. When I first got her she would regurge anything larger than a adult mouse then not eat for 2 months. She has seen a vet and they found nothing wrong with her. I was wondering if nutribac would be a good idea to stimulate her appetite? Also how much should be used and how often. She is about 5 ft and has been at this length since I received her. She has only shed 4 time in the last 2 years due to being fed small prey items once a month. Any info would be great. Thanks

I've used it here and there and haven't seen any negative side effects. Only time I use it is when I treat for parasites and wipe out everything inside them and I want to replenish the good stuff in their stomachs. All I do is just take their prey and dip the rear of the animal in it, shake off the excess and throw it in. I don't think there's any real scientific way to measure out what you should give them and I figured that was probably an appropriate amount.
Best of luck w/ that one!

A lot of the BCC people use it. There are a lot of uses of it, and it seems to work. It is just good bacteria that occurs in the digestive tract, so it is almost improssible to OD. Give it a try!

It's a probiotic very similar to BeneBac. The results have been very good. I think all captive reptiles would benefit from a regular dose of "beneficial Bacteria."
