Getting a Beardie to drink from a dish.

claymore Oct 10, 2004 04:45 PM

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to get my male bd, Lenny to drink form a dish. My female, jewels took right to it; all I did was spray her then splash the water in the dish around. Then she came over & started drinking from the dish. My male just looks at me like I've lost my mind when I put him near the water dish. Any ideas on this?

All i do is place my beardie with its legs on the side of the dish and slosh it around and drip it on their noses. I find that they need showing or they dont seem to be bothered. They will get used to it in time

Another thing you can do is put the dish roughly "in his path". I have Draconis' dish between his log and hammock, and his basking rock. Then when he gets tired of one or the other, he'll just walk over it. The moment his feet hit the water, he decides if he's thristy or not. Simple as can be.

p.s. - Then there's the trick of "hopping" over the dish entirely, just to annoy me. Who says these guys aren't smart?
