I recently moved around the setup of my chameleons cage, and now he is sleeping a bit more. Not napping but today he slept in till 12. He still eats like a pig and drinks alot. So is it just gonna take a few days for him to get used to the change? I changed the cage to use higher branches etc. so the change was needed.

Is he still going to sleep at the same time? If he is freaked out by the new cage, he may not be going to sleep until midnight or 1 AM-ish. (hehe amish). Even with lights on chams can sleep in.

Take a look at him around 11 or 12 and see if he's sleeping yet, this may be the cause of his sleeping in.

If that's not the case, it might be something else...wait and see until he's used to the cage change.

what do you have his lights timed for? I find that Luna winds down around 5 or 6 in the evening and gets up when her lights come on around 7:00. She sleeps even with the lights on. A few nights she has spent outside her cgae on her jungle gym! lol! She is in my office and I am usually working at night so that is will all the lights on!

Something to try is to cover his cage with towels or something to block out the light and turn his lights out at say 7:00. If he is in near darkness he should sleep.

Certainly the cage change can be a factor, but I would keep an eye on his sleeping habits and for any other changes. Did you change the location where he is getting more, or less, natural light?
