Best tortoise multivitamins/supplements, any opinions...

iananderson02 Oct 10, 2004 10:18 PM

Hey, just wanting some opinions on the best supplements for my leapord/redfoot tortoises. Both calcium and multivitamin opinions needed. I have heard that calcium/phosphorous blends are bad, are calcium/D3 blends ok (like the blend from repti-cal). Do I need to use both a calcium and multivitamin supplements or is one or the other better? Anyway, what are you guys using?
-Thanks

cuttlebones, oyster shells (naturally aged from the summer 's BBQ left over), chicken egg shells (cooked), these do a wonderful job keeping their beaks in shape, ground them up for those who prefers a-la-cart and sprinkles on their menus, this way, at least you know what came out from your own kitchen

I've used Pervinal puppy powder for about 10 or 15 years and then switched to Centrum up until now. The Centrum I grind up in a herb grinder and apply it once a week when I do use it.

With the use of Mazuri diet I don't add any supplements.

In the case of calcium I use powdered calcium carbonate with no D3. I use this ad lib for all my critters except the snakes.

And plain calcium carbonate from a brewing supplier for my animals who live outdoors.
