varanidfan and FR Banded Cape Whitethroats

PristinePythons Oct 10, 2004 10:49 PM

Well still waiting on pro exotics to get back to me (lol it's 12:00am so I have a few hrs). Anyways just had a few questions. What size enclosure should I build for the pair? How much do they typically eat a week? That's all for now. Thanks in advance,

hey John, i just walked back in the office from the airport, we did the Chicago show over the weekend, sorry i missed your call.

we did get a pair of Albigs from Pete, and i am really thrilled about it : )

it was kind of a surprise deal, all i know is that after i moved out that previous stunning pair of Whitethroats, i completely regretted it and wished i had held on to them.

Pete called looking for a good home for a prized pair, and i jumped at the chance. funny how the world works sometimes.

i don't have any intention at all of moving this pair, even though it is very clear to me that you are dying for some

i will keep my eyes open with you first in mind, in time you will get the spectacular pair you are looking for!

Hi Robyn,
I didn't know you were at Chicago. I must have missed you. Otherwise I would have stopped in to say hi. Take care.

Hatchling albigs should eat daily, if set up something close to correctly they will burn off more food than you could ever imagine, they are bottomless pits. My smaller cross is full grown (he has the size and shape from the cape banded WT), he eats 1 large rat and 6 or so jumbo mice a week, he isnt that active either, hes 4ft long. At 3ft long my female cross was under 5 months of age, she was eating 6-9 mice a day, but she also grew into a giant and fast. I like giving them mice, chicken peeps, rats, hissing roaches, and hatchlings crickets, lobster roaches (all foods as much as they will eat at a time in their first year).
A pair needs alot of room depends on their size, at least double everything. Hmmm, adult bandeds Id say a 10ft plus cage to make sure they can avoid each other and have enough room, at a minimum. They like to dig in the substrate to burrow, yet climb in branches etc.
