Hi,
Who sells Calico retics? and how much do they usually sell for? I know that there aren't too many out there because you have to wait until they mature for the transformation. Thanks for the help.

I believe NERD has produced male calicos as well. The "Flame" retic is an example... although he looks a bit different in appearance than many of the others I have seen, he is probably one of the very best ever produced. Calico expression is still somewhat of a mystery.
The flame retics are not calicos. Therefor NO ONE has produced a male calico.

"...we have worked with a male calico retic in the past, and have some of his male offspring that are in the process of turning calico."
That is straight from NERD's site. If the "Flame" retic isn't a calico, then what is it? Hmmm?
Flame retic sure doesn't look anything like a typical calico. I forgot how it was produced. Male calico retics are few and far between!

Dont know if this thread has been dead too long for anyone to care anymore but i thought i would chip in anyway.
Calico retics come in one of 3 forms, one of these is only seen in captive bred specimens. The first form is the "white", this is commonly considered the most attractive with it's white base colouration and singular coloured scales (good example is "Poison ivy" belonging to NERD). Second is the "cream or tan". This is by far the most common although not as highly sought after, examples can be seen all over the web. The third is the captive bred animals which have calico genetics present. These animals show different amounts of the trait and can look quite stunning although NEVER like the parents.
WC calico retics are mainly females although 2 males (confirmed) have been known. It was originally thought to be a sexually dependant trait but is not, it is however allmost definately sexually linked.
This was an imported MALE calico. He was close to 15'. So yes there are males, but they arent very common.

From what I've noticed, NERD seems to captively produce the most calicos. But this is just heresay, as I've obviously not kept up with every retic sale in the country. John was right, calicos seem to all be female for some reason for another (sex-linked trait). The trait is also extremely variable. NERD also has a very white calico that I think is gorgeous, but by and large, just IMHO, calicos aren't particularly attractive. NERD has managed to cross calico with tiger and produce calico tigers. Go to their website, newenglandreptile.com, to check out their stuff. Good luck!
