If I had to give a snake a pill..

Could I just shove it down the throat of a dead rat? I'm just curious, I don't have to and never have so I'm not sure how the best way top go about it would be.

I suppose that would work, but I don't think any vet would give you a pill for a snake. Most medications are administered to snakes via injection. Or, in the case of Flagyl, you usually insert a tube connected to syringe down the throat of the snake into the gullet and administer it that way.
