Taking a bath.

jflipl Oct 11, 2004 04:48 PM

I tried giving my BD a bath but he keeps jumping out of the water or just crawls up my arm. I keep my hand in there with him but like I mentioned he'd just crawl up. The temperature of the water is fine, not too warm nor too cold.

Is there a particular way in introducing a bath or will he just learn to like it in time?
How often should he be bathed? (6-inches BD)

At so young? I'm not even sure if it should be bathed.. more likely misted occasionally.. Later when he gets bigger, just support him with your hand and run him under the water.. eventually he'll get used to it and may just like to lay on the bottom

My adult tolerates soaking, but doesn't like it. When your dragon is big enough, find a container taller than the dragon. Fill just enough water to come to your dragon's shoulders, but so that the dragon can still touch bottom. So long as the container is tall enough, the dragon will soak. Be prepared to change the water since chances are good that your dragon will poop in it while soaking. Also, never leave your dragon unattended while soaking--a small "tantrum"/struggle to get out could result in drowning. After soaking/bathing, dry your dragon thoroughly and make sure heat is available.
regards,
althea
