Question about crested gecko diet

Chameleon996 Oct 11, 2004 06:34 PM

I got my first crestie yesterday at a show and I bought the crested gecko diet that I have heard alot about. I can't get it to gel. Am I using to much water? Should it be the consistency of baby food or runnier?

It doesn't have to be the consistancy of babyfood, but you don't want it "soupy" either. If it seems to water, just add a little more powder to it until it is thicker, If to thick add more water. Good luck.

when i mix it it's always a little runny, but after it sits for a few minutes it thickens up, so i'll mix it and let it sit for a few.

if i mix it too thick to begin with it seems to dry out to fast, altho that doesnt stop the cresties!

A couple of times I had mixed it too thick. I feed them in those little 2 oz deli cups, which I can throw away after they're done. The next morning, after a thick batch, I saw a ton of perfect little "moon bites" all around the edge of the cup. Like you said, they didn't seem to mind.

I'll have to keep my camera around next time, it was pretty funny looking.

Follow the instructions. At first it will be VERY runny but it gels up on its own.
