Sexing Panthers

LordOfTheLizards Oct 11, 2004 06:40 PM

What is the youngest age a panther can be sexed? And how do you sex a panther? Also can they be "probed" like you can do with corns?

It's just I wat a male for a variety of reasons (Colours, Risk of egg binding etc...) but I don't wanna pay alot for an adult (not that I don't WANNA but I CAN'T Because my parents are financing this and It's getting expensive as it is.

Thanx

The only way I know of sexing panthers at a very young age is
by the width of the base of the tail....and it takes
some practice. I'm sure that there are color differences too...
but I can't tell that way.

As for probing, I have never heard of it being done with a
chameleon....and if it is possible, IMHO, it should only be
done by someone who really knows what they are doing.

If you haven't kept a chameleon before, I would also recommend
that you don't get a hatchling...but rather one that is several
months old. The mortality rate should be lower by then, and they
should be easier to sex too.

Hope this helps!
