Vieleds And Panther's

LordOfTheLizards Oct 11, 2004 06:46 PM

Hey there. I just wanted to here your opinions on whether or not you panthers/vieleds like to be held and how they react to it. Also I keep hearing that Vieleds are really agressive but I am thinking of getting one of them just because of the price.

So your opinions would be good.

Thanx

veileds and panthers are both very hardy speceis. It depends on the chameleons peronality. All of my chams willingly let me hold them and my favorite doesn't get off once he is on me.

I guess I'm a little partial, but I'd say veileds are pretty friendly if started off that way. I made the mistake of not really handeling mine at all for the first few months that I had them (I got them very young, about 1 month old) so now they are both a little skittish. I'm working on it tho, mainly b/c they have outgrown the cage I have for them, and the female needs to get away from the male sometimes, so I take one or the other out & try to handle them.
I've heard of some pretty aggressive panthers, but it has been mainly WC animals, so if you go with a CB juvie or well-handled adult, either should be fine. Panthers do have a nice assortment of colors... they may be my next cham purchase many moons from now... Good Luck!

Ive had a vieled female for around 2 and a half years. She never wants to be handled, as such, but when taken off the branch she seems content to. Ive only had one instance of her biting me, and that was because she thought my finger was a worm, not out of an aggressive behavior. I give her the roam of my room and leave her cage door open to allow her free movement. Aside from posturing when she thinks she's in danger she's entirely non-aggressive and i enjoy the [bleep] out of her.

Each one has it's own personality but I do think panthers are a bit more mellow than veileds. But then again if you want a cuddly pet that loves to be held get a puppy or kitty. If you want the coolest most interesting pet you can find get a chameleon. You do have to be willing to invest time and money into them to keep them healthy. Just like everything else.
