What tests should I request when purchasing a monitor that has been regurgitating (more)

bengalensis Jun 28, 2003 02:47 AM

within the last year. Its a female monitor that Im thinking about acquiring. I was told that I should have it tested for Cryptospordidiosis, as this disease effects the gasto system as well as completely debilitating the intestinal tract. Any other suggestions as precautionary measures? I would really like to work with this animal, but dont want to waste this kind of money on something thats hopelessly ill. I saw her last Nov. when she was regurgitating. She has since ceased to show sypmtoms, but I have yet to see any vet paperwork on her.

Thanks,
Michelle

I would get a basic fecal exam for parasites(worms)also.Any monitor that I have bought that regurged it's food(and had proper temps),had worms.pin, round or tapeworms usually. They are usually easy to get rid of if they haven't built up too much.Droncit for tapes and Panacur kills just about everything else.
