Researching info on leucistic rat snakes and would like to know what type of temperment (generally speaking of course) should I expect from this species.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2003 female Leucistic Texas Rat Snake. She was produced by South Mountain Reptiles. She has never given me a second of trouble. Never even struck at me once, not even the day she came in shipping!
I have a friend with a yearling, and another friend with an adult pair. All of theirs are very tame also. I have heard horror stories about Leucistics, but these 4, all from different bloodlines are tame and great pets.
Good Luck,
Mark

what kind do you have mark? texas or black? Blacks are a lot more calm tempered, i've heard that the texans are a little more arnery, lol.

i have had and bred leucistic texas rats for about nine years. some of the hatchlings have been a little nippy (as are many hatchlings of many species). all have calmed down with a little time and handling. my adults have never tried to bite. good luck. Rin
I too own a pair of Leucistic Texas ratsnakes. They are Dwight Good stock that I purchased from Terry Parks. They have never attempted to bite and are relatively calm. The female produced 12 babies this past season and of course they were a bit nippy but most hatchlings are like this anyways.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you're interested in any. Thanks

I have many texas rats and in general they tend to be more "nippy". I find them to be a little moody. Some will never bite; others on occasion, and then the DEMONS(which by the way are my favorite) who wont give up.They will usually calm down with a little work.
