Appropriate cage size?

Sobera Oct 12, 2004 05:35 AM

here is my turtle, Raphael, basking in his humble abode. his house isnt finished yet, i still have alot to add. but money is a bit tight right now so i must get things one by one as i can. anyways, the tank is a 20 litre... yes litre, not gallon. knowing that and from what you can see in the picture, does it look like he has an appropriate amount of room? i plan on buying him a much larger tank when i can, but is this good for now?

bigger would be better, try rubbermaid containers. Do you have a filter, the water looks quite murky.
Also, that is a red eared slider, not a painted turtle.

the water is murkey because is was just put in when that pictures was taken, the rocks were a bit cloudy, even tho i rinsed and scrubbed them for about 2 hours. the murk has died down now and you can see through the water to the other side of the tank. i was planning on getting a filter although im not sure what can i can use with my current setup. the lid i have is metal mesh, near heavy duty. how can i fix a filter to my tank without putting holes in my nice heavy duty screen? also. he was kept in a very small rubber made container before i got him. VERY small... i am planning on buying him a 120 gallon once i can afford it. but please do help me with ideas for filtration

If you don't have a filter, then I would take out all of the gravel. You can get a Duetto 100 to work with your setup, it will stay on the bottom of the tank, and the cord will fit under the screen.
