Brumating, or sick?

Tarzana Oct 12, 2004 07:29 AM

The past two days my bearded dragon has been acting sickly, but I'm not sure if he is trying to brumate. He is about 2 years old, and the past two days he has been on the cold side of his tank and laying in the same spot. He lifted up the substrate which was papertowel and he layed on the bare glass. He usually goes to the bathroom about 1 time every two days, but the last two days he went to the bathroom one time each day and they were very small as if he was cleaning out his system. He has been eating regular up until now, but I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on what might be going on. Thankyou, Kara

Tis the season, sounds like he's getting ready to brumate on ya. I'd start cutting back the lights and food. Keep an eye on his weight, he really shouldn't lose very much at all during it, if he does wake him up and take him into the vet to be checked out.
