I was talking to my parents yesterday, and somehow I got them on the subject of snakes. My dad and I were talking about how Sparky (the desert kingsnake) I once had, was not the snake for us, and a top-opening enclosure was not a good cage for him, since we had to bend down to get into it, and then sometimes Sparky would rush towards the door when we had it opened. In fact, my dad even said, "Some breeds of kingsnake, and cornsnakes are usually very docile. Sparky was too fast and aggressive to make a good beginner's snake". So this led me into a discussion of how, if we had gotten a different breed of snake, and waited another couple of years (I was only in 2nd grade when we got Sparky), we would still have it today. Well, also if we at least started the snake off in a smaller, top-opening enclosure. It was nearly impossible to get him out when you had to chase him around that big cage.
So, we talked a little bit more about snakes, and nothing ever came up like it normally does about how I could never have one again. I think all I need to do is find a snake that she will think is, in a way, cute or something. I am thinking probably a baby cornsnake, since their little bodies and (comparatively) larger heads make them look cute.
Still trying to not get my hopes up though.
