Malays Oct 12, 2004 11:38 AM

Interested in albino Queretaro king. Would like to know about tempermeant of this type of snake. Are they calm or nervous like Pueblan milks, etc?
Thanks.

Queretaro kingsnakes, though a bit shy, are much more calm than the large majority of milksnake types. That doesn't mean they love to be held. It only means they are far less prone to musk and thrash.

Other info:
They are montane kingsnakes and so prefer cooler background temps but still need a basking area of 82-84 deg (just not a large heated area). If keeping the young in a screen-top cage, it is a good idea to have a small box of moist sphagnum moss over the heated area so the snake can take refuge in it. Let the moss dry out before re-hydrating it.

They usually feed very well but may not be aggressive feeders like Cal kings can be, so don't expect that kind of response.

They are a nice snake to keep, and the albinos are one snake that I think look even better as adults than as babies.
