horned lizard hatchling

niki_athena Oct 12, 2004 01:31 PM

Hello,

My husband rescued a horned lizard from the parking lot at his work. He brought it home for the weekend because it was sooo cute. Anyways we fed it tiny ants and pinhead crickets, but because I have read posts about the dietary care they need we knew we just couldn't keep it. The little baby hatchling preferred not to be held and wouldn't eat any carpenter ants only ants that were a few millimeters long. He also liked to hide a lot until we stuck in the little side-blotched lizard for company they got along real well. He also liked to drink misted water and bask, and this morning I woke up and he was gone my husband said he would look for a place up the wash from the parking lot with good camouflage cover and small ants.

Hi there,

I love the pic of the HL and the Uta next to each other. Hard to believe they're in the same family, huh? Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing!
