feeding questions...

pyromanic666 Oct 12, 2004 04:23 PM

i want to buy all of the mice/rats i need at the same time and i was wondering how much of each (fuzzies, weanlings, etc.) to get. is there like an average time interval or number of feedings to switch to the next larger item?

also, how do you switch from live mice to f/t rats? i want to feed primarily on rats because i've heard they have more nutrients in them. should i switch to frozen first or to rats first? im assuming they won't go directly there.

i hope that made sense...

buying them all at one time is not a good idea... I go to the store once a month to buy all that I need for the month. buying all at one time will never be accurate... you dont know how fast the snake will grow, when and how long it will go off feed, or which sizes the snake will accept at different times. changing a snake from live to frozen/thawed is not always an easy task... mine in particular transfered extremely well, at the pet store, they fed her stunned, and I, not knowing this, fed her a f/t mouse, and she gobbled it right up. it just depends on the snake to determine wether it will be an easy or difficult process.
--THE PROCESS--
1. live,
2. stunned,
3. prekilled, and then
4. f/t.

offer #2 to the #1 eater, and if accepted, offer #3 next time. then, if accepted, offer #4.
if it isnt accepted, offer the # before it.

hope it helps!
