I have been told to replace them every 6 months. There is one brand that is said to last 1 year. However, people have said that is doubtful. The light continues to work but the UVB rays diminish at about 6 months. I hope that helps.

6 months is the general rule (even if they say they last for a year). If you want to be sure, get yourself a UV meter and check them every now and then.
