Thanks for posting your pics. I love seeing baby pictures. Here is a photo of Azul at about 18 months and a photo of what he looks like today. Several people that saw him in Chicago and are familiar with the wild Blue Iguanas on Grand Cayman were quite impressed with his appearance. I've always thought he was a handsome lad but I'm slightly prejudiced.

I believe Azul was hatched in '98.
If you are not sure of the year, 97 or 99 makes more sense based on appearance. The male breed with the 3 legged female in 97 and 99 had alot more blue and Azul looks more like him than the male the breeder used in 98.
John, you would know better than I. I believe Azul was hatched the same year Bubbles was. They were both available for sale at the same time and they were the same size. I chose the Rhino and passed on Azul. He came to me almost 8 months later because he was considered "untameable". LOL
Sorry, I was not 100% sure. If it was the same year you got Bubs, it would be 1998. I am beginning to think that maybe the breeder had the female in with the bluer male at first, but because they were not getting along, he switched, and perhaps breeding had already taken place. The 98 clutch produced about 7 offspring including twins from one egg. They are out there somewhere.
John, you may be correct. I acquired Bubbles in late August of 98 and I assumed that she was almost a yearling. So Azul may be a '97 hatch, making him almost 7 years old. My, how time flies.
Jane, time does fly, We did not divide the rhino clutch up until Jan of 99, so it must have been August of 99 when you got Bubs. It was that breeders first clutch of rhinos. He still had about half the 98 clutch of lewisi. I believe the last 2 or 3 were sold/traded to Joe Ch3. of Mich.. Is that who you got Azul from ?
Both Bubbles and Azul came from Joe C. I believe Joe told me he had another of Azul's clutchmates (that he said showed more blue coloration) that went somewhere in Texas. My memory is so poor...stinks getting old. OK, it must have been '99 that I got Bubs because I moved out of my house in August of 2000 and I'd had her a year by then. So, both Azul and Bubs were hatched in '98 and were almost yearlings when I first saw them in August of '99. Thanks, John, don't know what I'd do without you!
Jiffypop, I tried to post a message but it didn't seem to go through,so here it is again.I would love to get my hands on a relation of this beautiful lewisi hybrid.I have a pair I got from david Blair awhile back, but they are not as pure lewisi as that guy.I live in southern cal. and breed rhinos.I just built a brand new monster outdoor vivarium that has more than enough room for a new lewisi.I really want to try and breed these guys, but I feel my bloodline is not as pure as it should be.If his relatives are gone Ihope you would breed him to give his amazing bloodline a chance. Thanks so much for your time, Backyard Herps
Unfortunately Blair was selling all of his hybrids in the same category awhile back, his recent web site does separate the cuban/caymen/lewisi hybrids (total muts) from the Caymen/Lewisi (bluer ones). Yours are most likely from the more deluted mix. Your pretty lucky if you can house lewisi with rhinos. The guy who sent me this photo could not keep his pair of lewisi's togather, let alone with any other cyclura.
