Why isnt he that active?

TheDrew1 Oct 12, 2004 10:24 PM

My fairly new adult male veiled chameleon just started to eat now. He hasnt been eating for about 2 weeks then he started to shed and he ate a lot of super worms. But i always hear how adult chameleons will use their entire cage but mine is always in or around the same spot. The basking spot stays around 95 and the rooms about 75 - 80. I always see pictures of peoples chameleons and they seem to be moving someway or another and i never see mine move. Please help

Thanks

Sounds like there are several problems if he hasn't been eating. Is he showing stress coloration a lot? If so, he's probably being intimidated by something he can see from the cage. Where in the cage does he spend his time...the basking spot? The coolest spot? Hiding? Just where he sits may tell you if he's too hot (the room sounds a bit warm to me), too cold, dehydrated, afraid, etc. If a cham is content and has all his needs met he may not be all that active all day. If he's eating, drinking, basking and then moving to some other part of the cage he may simply have a favorite spot to watch the world go by.
