ball python is glossy eyed and lazy

joshmancini Oct 12, 2004 10:35 PM

My ball python has been very lazy for the past couple weeks. He never comes out of his hideaway. I have noticed his eyes are glossy too. I have his tank at 85-90 during the day and 80-85 during the night. I also feed him once a week. This is my first snake so I am new at this. I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Thanks,
Josh

Sounds like its starting its shed cycle.

Amazing the info those care sheets contain!

That happens to me, when I get ahold of really good stuff.

Mine has been pretty lazy too. (s)he has no problem playing all day, but (s)he won't tidy up up now matter how many times I discuss it.

Most likely in a shed cycle. In the wild, they are very vulnerable during this time. Probably why he is "lazy." He's just taking care not to expose himself to predators. The shed cycle should last 7-10 days. Just make sure the humidity is 70-80% and the shed should be fine.
