Shed time?

teetswee Oct 13, 2004 01:22 PM

I just got my first ball python about 2 weeks ago and her eyes have turned blue like she's about to shed. Her scales don't look dull like the scales of my kingsnake when he's getting ready to shed, though. Is this normal for ball pythons? I mean, I can tell when my king's getting ready to shed and guess about when it'll happen, but this being a new snake, I can't tell. So my question is, how long after the eyes turn blue can I expect my ball python to shed? Thanks in advance!

it varies with each individual snake, but mine took almost 2 weeks to shed after the blue eyes. this is what Rusti looked like when she went into the actual shedding process.

The entire process can take from 7-10 days. Make sure the humidity is 70 % and all should go well.
