Mealworms......How to go about feeding them

Triad Oct 13, 2004 05:14 PM

So I got mealworms today.

Kalypso thought it was a wax worm and ate it. Then she gave me this dirty look. What struck me as odd was that it took her more time to chomp that one down then it does to eat a wax worm.

I also offered her cricketts that I almost smashed to death (I just don't want them running from her). She licked it, then walked off.

Is there something wrong with her? She's got a nice fat tail and isn't losing weight. She just got done shedding.

But she's totally stopped eating mealies and crickets and will only eat waxies now. She could be addicted I'm not sure, I give her waxies maybe 3 times a week now and the main part of her diet is mealies and crickets(cricks occassionally).

IMO I think you are feeding your gecko too many waxworms during the week. They are very addicting.

I feed my leos waxies only once a month. I mainly feed super worms and mealworms. Leos gain alot of weight when they eat super worms as long as you are feeding your super worms the best gut-load.

Just cut down on the waxies and feed something else. Your better off that way.

Dont smash the crickets either, geckos natural instinct is to hunt, so your leo will find the crickets and eat them.

So if Kalypso is addicted will she go through like withdrawls?

What is the best gut load to feed mealworms?

I thought superworms were bad for leopard gecko's?
