Just thought I would post here that I had my very first crested gecko hatch!! To many of you experienced folks this is probably one of those "been there done that" events but the circumstances of this little guy are amazing.
My better half cleaned out our gecko enclosure and placed the substrate into a plastic bag. Then put the plastic bag in one of our greenhouses to use the substrate as mulch in the flowerbeds.
It sat in the greenhouse for several days at daytime temps of around 95 degrees (inside the greenhouse). After this out to the front flower bed where it was spread out and raked in between the hostas.
I went outside for a minute and just happened to look where the substrate had been spread out and their (baking in the sun) was a perfect little crested gecko egg!!! I took it and put in some lightly moistened bed-a-beast. I figured it was dead after all that turmoil. (oh I checked every square inch of that flower bed and found no more eggs)
I kept it at 75-78 degrees and I cannot believe that it actually hatched!!
I guess reptile eggs are alot more resilient than people think they are.
