beautiful animal, that! I've always liked the look of Niles.

And that nile looks tanzanian to me.

They are the most common coming in lately.

I didn't send it to you. I'd like to know who did tho. That Nile is the nicest Nile we've ever had come thru the rescue and if I hadn't had a good home lined up for him already I probably would have kept him. He originally came out of a pet store in New Hampshire (that was shut down on cruelty charges) where he was kept in a wooden box with carpet and a cake pan of water. Damien was not tame when recovered but calmed down nicely with some patient handling over many months. I would guess that Damien is approximately 6-8 years old now. He was a pleasure to have here for the short time that he was with us. I get updates on him frequently and he's doing well.

This photo is simply the best varanids photo iv seen! I don’t mean this on a technical perspective, I mean it shows a highly exploited specie with a bad reputation in loving hands. I don’t remember who sent this to me about 1 year ago, at that time my email was Steeve.blain@sympatico.ca its now changed to jobi64@hotmail.com I was hopping it was you because I sure would love to see more photos like this.
I remember posting a request for photographs of monitors and keepers for future publication in my up coming varanids book, those this ring a bell?
In any case bravo for your commitment
Rgds

I have no hatred for Niles, I'd just rather not deal with them if I don't have to. If the need arises, I will take them and try to find an appropriate home. This little beauty arrived here a couple of years ago. I partially raised him, then a friend had him for a few months, and now it's with Jody and breeding, I believe. Jody can verify or dispute this.

Yes Steeve, it does appear to be tanzanian. Its a beautiful monitor for sure. I also have a tanzanian nile, gorgeous animals, I personally think they are every bit as beautiful as ornatus.
