i saw some cages with tile in them and i really like how they look. I have a 20 gallon tank and i was wondering how many slate or granite tiles i will need and what size? how well do tiles work with an under tank heater? pictures would be great.

It's just basic math. First find the area of the bottom of your tank (lengthXwidth) then find a tile you like and find the area of one tile (same formula as above). Then take the area of the bottom of the tank and divide by the area of the tile. That is how many tiles you will need. If it doesn't go in evenly you will have to cut the tile
L X W of cage
L X W of 1 tile
L X W of Cage divided by L X W of tile = how many tiles you need.

Sorry my digital camera isnt working so i cant provide of a picture. But the tiles in my tank are about 11 3/4 inches and i can fit 2 and i have to overlap about 2 inches with the other 1, i also stacked 2 ontop of the 1 so that it was cooler. The UTH is better this way because i use sand to get the temp just right by adding or subtracting some.

A standard 20 gallon tank is the same size as two 12" by 12" tiles, sometimes they fit too snugly.. and 4 6" by 6"
