Questions about moss and more

invalidKey Oct 13, 2004 07:38 PM

Does anyone know if terrarium moss sold by esu reptile is the same as spaghnum(sp?) moss? It's impossible to control humidity in the cage I have at the moment and she's in shed. I was going to try some of this in a 20 Qt. sterilite if she'll fit and I can get her out of the cheerios box.
How in the heck do you get that funky smell out of the sterilite? It's been washed half a dozen times and the smell always comes back.
I'm going to try and order a couple cages from boaphile by the end of the week. Can anyone tell me how big males get on average. I know they can vary by quite a bit just like people, I'm just looking for a ball park figure. If they stay under or close to 4' I'll probably get a 3' cage and save some money for a JCP.

Any reply is greatly appreciated.

A 3' cage is plenty big for even a 6' Ball python. If you keep them on newspaper, just dump some water on the paper, and they will shed fine. Boaphile cages & racks ROCK!!!, you will be happy, and so will your snakes.

Thanks for the info. I'm ordering the cages today. Unfortunately I'm not going to have the money for a JCP until maybe Jan. and I don't really want to ship anything at that time of year. Unless I can find one locally I'll probably wait till spring.
I appreciate the tip on just wetting the newspaper. Makes life simpler and we all need a little of that. Thank you.
