My Red tegu was on baytril Antibiotic for the infection in his mouth. I first noticed it as one side of his lower jaw was red,swollen, and occasionally protruded out. However, after a week of using the baytril I immediately discontinued using it b/c he started getting the runs and got reallly dehydrated. So I decided to let it take care of itself and it seemed to be alright, however, a month later to this day he has show severe signs of URI, such as a buildup of mucous that i can hear (no discharge form the nose). This becomes a lot worse when he eats. I believe the infection progressed b/c he has begun to brumate, and this possibll lowered his immune system slightly. Anyway, I talked to a vet that said i should continue to use the baytril in addition to raising the temperature of the tank. Is there any other advice i can receive?
