Any ideas on this one?

Ok, I think I am in the right forum this time. Anyway I have no locality information at all. It does eat fuzzies and when disturbed puts on a huge show of huffing and puffing but it never bites. I think it is either a Worm Snake or an Anaconda, or perhaps something in between LOL.

Any thoughts?

I guess it looks a little bit like a Dice Snake (Natrix tesselata), but I don't think that is what it is. Without a better photo where we can see the head, it is going to be pretty hard to pin down.

Looks like a spotted python Antaresia maculosa.

It is the actual snake. It is a typical colubrid, about the size and build of an adult garter or water snake.

Without a better picture or knowing even what COUNTRY the snake is from all I can guess is Narrow headed Gartersnake?
Maybe other people can see it better on thier comps. But this is all I can get from it.

This was actually sold to me as an Arizona Garter Snake that was CB in California or Oregon. I was later told it was a Narrow-Headed and not an Arizona by the seller (there was a previously recognised subspecies of the Wandering Garter called an Arizona Garter, which is what I was expecting when I purchased this from a pet shop in the North West). I have seen many many Narrow-Headed Garters in N Arizona and this does not look similiar either in pattern or physical features. Do New Mexico N-H vary significantly from the individuals in Az? I did not take this picture. I was shopping for a digital camera but I became overwhelmed by all the features and choices. My brain got full and I gave up LOL. If I get one I will definatly post better pics to exhibit the taxonomic points. I hope I can finally key it out as a Narrow-Headed. I believe within the next year or two AZ will place them on the States Protected list. I do have some nice pics of Narrow-Headeds from this summer that I will post in the Garter Snake forum as soon as I get the slides developed and scanned. That is if anyone is interested.

Thanks,
Randy

I AM SO GREAT! GR8!!!!
Well, like I said, the pic is fuzzy, but it does look like a narrow headed to me. Markings, size, and shape of the body and head all look correct. But then, again, the pic IS fuzzy.
So I'm not sure what you are seeing that looks different from a narrowheaded to you.
