going off feed.... pooping and how often to offer food???

pengulove Oct 14, 2004 12:19 AM

i have a male that has gone off feed for the first time, it's his second winter and he has refused his last three meals. my question is how often will he poop?? i would figure it could be quite sometime because he has nothing to poop out, but was just curious.

another thing is how often does everyone offer food to those snakes that have gone off feed for the winter months?? once a month, twice a month?? or just leave it alone all together till spring roles around? i would take the ft rat from him if he doesn't want it and give it to my female that loves to eat, but he is weird and needs to have it sit with him over night slightly over the heating pad. so by the morning when i find it, it is smelling all sorts of rotten and nasty and i dont' know if that would be ok to give to my girl.

any help would be great!
thanks in advance

As long as the female is still eating, I would offer the male a meal every two weeks, and if he didn't take it, I would just feed it to the female (if she still eats). He will probably not feed for quite some time, but sometimes they do, so offer him food until you know for sure he is on his winter fast.
