Keeping Reptiles Outside of house

jmartin104 Jun 28, 2003 11:15 AM

I know there are a couple people in FL that keep their reptiles on the porch and garage. How do you deal with the heat? How do your reptiles deal with the heat? My garage gets in the area of 90-95 in the summer.

I would say too hot....

my balls don't seem to like it at temps close to 90 even...

colubrids over 85 start crawling all over the place trying to get out....and alot will estevate...(stop eating/too hot)..

snakes that are too hot cannot digest food....just like too cold...and they will regurgitate alot of times....

.....outside is one thing...and INside a garage is another....

outside...alot of snakes can be rasied....but Florida people keep reptiles outside with alot of shade...and probably ground access...(they can hide under bark, logs,or even in a burrow....

.....try for 83 degrees.....all the time even....

good luck
