Hi,
I'm 18 and I've been keeping snakes all of my life. I have kept everything from Black Rat's to Ball Pythons. Milks, Hognose, I've kept quite a few different species. I just recently sold my Mexican Milk, I raised him from a baby. I now notice that I have a lot of free space now! Anyone got a suggestion on a snake species for me to try? I have been reading up on Emerald's for as long as I can remember, but don't plan on getting one of those until I've had a little more experience. I've thought about Red Tails, Rosy's, Sands, JCP's, and the list goes on and on. I would like some suggestions, I don't want a Burmese just yet, but I don't want something as small as a Blind Snake LOL! Hopefully someone will suggest a snake that I haven't thought of yet. Thanks for all the help!!

Brett

I didn't see boa on your list. Red tails are my favorite. Easy to keep, good temper, bigger than a ball but smaller that a burm. After that i'd look at the JCP. They're gaining alot of popularity.

if you like active snake, a blue beauty can't be beat! I just got mine about a week ago, very strong feeding response, 4 months old already as big as my black rat was at one year, lol. she'll grow to about 8 feet...and if you like interesting snakes they're surely do it for you! she's struck at me every time i've handled her, I freak my mom out she goes 'shes gonna bite you" i said probably...then she does (but not biting just an open mouth strike) and oh the reaction is great....i love her wouldnt give her up for anything!

They get girthy like a Burm but only about five feet long. You can handle an adult no problem, they eat like crazy, and they are great display snakes. Check out the Blood Forum for more info. Take care, Eric-
