That is a healthy place to be, as it will allow you the rare opportunity to have to defend concepts that ordinarily you would be working to discredit. Definitly improves your understanding and perception of the world when you look thru other eyes.

Here's some points you can use ...

First: (and most obvious)the country was not financially ready to open a second front. This has compounded the damage that the recession and the previous war in Afghanistan had allready caused.

Second: The arguement that sanctions against Iraq did not work is just not true as the very fact that (even Bush has had to publicly admit) there were no WMD's in Iraq is clear evidence that the sanctions were working.

Third: The main cause for Bush's justification of the war (see above) has proven false.

Forth: The US was in no danger of immenent attack by Iraq. There was no National State of Emergency that clearly depicted Iraq as the source of the 911 attack. In fact there was far more involvement from the Saudi's (our allies) as several of the hijackers were Saudi.

Finally: If one reads history the record for any nation that has occupied a moslem country has been full of the same probs we are now facing. We are being put into the same situation Isreal has had to deal with since the world gave moslem land to them to form a country. Moslems are fiercly defensive of their homelands.

Hope that helps for a start. Mayhaps this assignment might enable you to see that those of us that have opposed this war have some pretty compelling reasons for doing so.

The war on Iraq filled a lot of muslems in the Middle East with even more hatred towards western countries that they already held.

The muslim terrorist orginazations got a lot of new recruits because of this war.

As a summery one can say, this war fueled terrorism instead of fighting it.

Since you have only a smal time for rebuttal , I would go with this:

"We are creating enemies FASTER than we can kill them"
(This ties in to hermanns thread in that worlwide terrorism is stronger now than it has ever been and recruitment is up. lovely.damn.

" Our president and the image of the United States is now disdained worldwide"

(Ask anyone that has gone overseas to another country how Americans are treated NOW that we have been all portrayed in this light due to the decision makeing capacities of our government)

Take care

I think that depends on whose information you trust. If you swallow the party line (from either party) then you have issues.

However, Going on personalities I thought that Bush trashed his credibilility with Roe Vs Wade and also his answer on Homosexuality. He seemed to me to be far less confident than Kerry.

I thought his changes he wants to make to social security are just plain dumb and will further go to bankrupting the system. As one who is near to my time as a collector (instead of an investor) in social security, I know it is a fact that the younger people will be paying my benifits (the money I invested has allready been wasted by the government). So if they privitize the system there will be no money for my investment. That's plain fact.

I think also a president needs to represent ALL THE PEOPLE. Bush doesn't.

Bush tripped over hsi own tongue, that much is for sure.

Roe v. Wade is damageing to him, and the light that Kerry put on it, that"Though he has personal beleifs that say that abortion is wrong, he cannot impart his belief or faith on another through our legal system" caused damage to Bush as well.

In short. The debates made Bush look bad. Or at least inept. You make the choice

well i guess since im so tired i wont tell everything at once.

the first question:would you go to war with the info we had before the war? the yes side didn't do anything amazing. The no side was full of crap though......ie........"it is obvious we are going to war for the oil"......"Iraq has NEVER had WMD's"....."Iraq is an ally"......"Iraq will use a nuclear weapon"..........and a bunch of other crap i dont remember.

To Bad.... You should have used the arguements we gave you here. Properly argued they should have been compelling enough to win. I was on my schools debate club so I speak from experience.

i wasn't the one from my team debating. But the above responses were from a different team and question. My team however won our debate.

The third question was: WHat will either (each team was a different canidate) canidate do in iraq? and well simply put the Kerry side r***d them, not due to Bush's opinions being weak. But due to the team arguing Bush's side being lazy and not having any notes.

A pity....If you had been on that team you would have had to think about the reasons I gave. That would have been benificial I think...

Amend that...I mean't if you had been Arguing the topic for that team. Sounds like like I wasted my time supplying you with arguements that were not used.

That was a different team on a different question. My team did use most (2 minutes is not a lot of time) of the info provided and well simply put we owned.
