Austin Stevens and Blue Beauty

Joeycoco98 Oct 14, 2004 03:01 PM

Was that a Blue Beauty that Austin Stevens had in the cave? He never referred to it by any common name that I can remember so I was curious. I looked like one to me? Also, what is there temperment like?

Thanks,
Miller

Think it was a Ridleyi (Cave Dwelling Ratsnake). I don't keep them, but from what I've heard, they tend to be more high strung than the rest of the taeniura group.

I dont know I dont watch that guy very often, but I can give you some info on blue beauties.

They will grow 8-9 feet within 3 years. at one year of age expect around 5 feet. as babies they are very nippy...every time i handle mine (about 4 months old i've had her around 2 weeks now) she strikes at me but not biting down. personaly, i love her personality. she doesnt take crap. but as I was told I do need to invest in a good snake hook and some feeding tongs, because as she grows older as one lady put it to me "i used to throw the mice into her cage and watch my blue beauty catch them mid-drop, until she missed one time and got my arm" ....well paraphrased.

care is basically the same as a n. american rat...cool/warm side, i keep mine at a gradient of 78/82. she stays buried a lot, but shes also cruising quite a bit. i do think shes my favorite as far as personality, my licorice stick black rat as far as if i want a calm one just to hold for a bit.
