question about brumation,dehydration

cee4 Oct 14, 2004 04:55 PM

what do I do if I have one dragon that wants to brumate and one that doesnt in the same enclosure? My sons bd is eating and going strong but mine is digging in her sand box and staying on the cool side and acts very sluggish as well as staying a darker gray in color. She is too sluggish to catch any crickets and doesnt seem to be eating anything..Is it okay to just raise the temps in the cage so my bd will come out of this? I am worried she might be dehydrated as well she wont drink anything. Ive always had probs with her and liquids, she will not drink any even if misted. So I always leave the greens with lots of water on them and soak her pellets real good as well as add in rasberries which she loves..

Number one, you shouldn't have them in the same enclosure. It is VERY stressful on the female both metally and physically and will eventually lead to an early death. That being said, if they want to brumate they are usually going to do it whether you want them to or not. It's really not good on them to try to fight it off. While brumating they really don't do much of anything but sleeep, keep an eye on her weight and if she starts dropping something else is wrong, get her to a vet.
