First shed of res

I think this is the first shed my res have started. There is little pieces of skin hanging and I can see the shell is starting to shed slightly. Is this discomforting to them and is there anything I can do to help with this process?

when my RES shed i just let it up to nature. they will fall off. it is really hangs on i peel it off very carefully. they will either fall off or will come off on their basking spots when going in the water or coming out
