Tired of Crickets?

trep Oct 14, 2004 06:15 PM

Hello..
I have been feeding my 2 new baby dragons lots and looooots of crickets the past few weeks... either hand fed or in a seperate container...along with their greens...but anywhoo.. the past 2 days they BOTH have refused any attempts to get them to the little critters. I wiggled a fatty mealworm right in their faces(i didnt give it to them) and they went crazyy so i know their hungry... any suggestions?

You have to try silkworms and butterworms! They are really high in protien and calcium and low in phospherous. Plus beardies love them and it really plumps them up. I noticed that mine got that way to on crickets. Like if you had subway everyday for lunch but had no choice of a different filling. LOL.... I don't know why I didn't get this before but about 4 weeks ago Joel Roberts said "variety is the key" (which I've heard a thousand times it just hit me like a ton of bricks that time)

www.midwestherpetoculture.com has them both for sale, the prices are really fair and Thomas is a great guy! His silkies even come with food enough to last til they are all fed. Keep in mind though if you order them that they won't eat near as many silkies or butterworms as they are more filling than crickets.
If you want to know the nutritional value go to www.beautifuldragons.com. They are listed with the veggies chart.

I usually just make sure all crickets are removed from the cage... then stop offering crickets for a day or two. After that, they usually want live food. As long as they're 4-6 weeks old, this should be ok to try and usually works.
