Pastel from petstore??

annakiya Oct 14, 2004 07:41 PM

I bought my first Ball Pyhon recently. The original price for her was $179.99, I talked them down to $130, which was pretty easy because The people at the store knew nothing about reptiles at all. I had been researching on BP'S for months before purchasing. Now when I first got the snake she was going into shed so her color was a quite dull. She recently began to shed and her colors are amazingly bright. She looks exactly like a carmel. Is it possible that I got a morph? I know people on these threads have said that someone along the line would have picked up on this special reptile before it got to a pet store, but this snake looks exactly like a carmel. I'll have pics up soon, prob this weekend.

If you have to ask its 99.9% most likely normal
Do you understand how many people pick through lots of ball pythons before they hit the pet store?

Then why do you have "Pastel" in the header? The two morphs look nothing alike.

Firt of all the title "pastel" of my first post was a mental type-o, I had been looking at pastels before I posted, I really meant "Carmel". Second I live in Eastern Canada and $130 is much below the norm many people pay around here for any Ball Python, seeing as how the closest Canadian breeder is eight hours away in Montreal. So I would say that what I payed for the snake reflects nothing of my husbandry knowledge. As was stated in my original post I do realize how many people pick through these snakes before they hit the pet stores. So thank you to the only two people who posted helpful/responsible posts (PBM, Dangerously) instead of bashing someone else to up their own self esteem (which seems to be a common theme on these forums). Oh by the way the snakes name is Annakiya, It is an African name, I am a guy.. I should really look into getting a new handle. I will put pics up soon.

Thanks PBM and Dangerously

I think I saw you post in that forum. It is a very nice snake but it is not a carmel or a pastel. I think you already went through this in there didnt you? Anyway, this is one forum that can be pretty harsh and is not too forgiving to mistakes...we all had to learn to work around that when we came in. This forum also has a much more knowledge so I wouldnt leave it just because of a harsh thread. We have all been through a few. Anyway..good luck and you have a nice looking snake. It is 100% a normal but that does not make it any less of a ball python so it isnt a big deal.

No I wasn't on any other forum asking this question, I haven't got my pics up yet, every time I try it says they are too large and I have to resize them.

Thanks for the heads up though appreciate it
