Axanthic????

ReptaGirl Oct 14, 2004 09:04 PM

A friend of mine aquired some ball pythons from someone he knew who wasn't taking very good care of them. They are about 3 years old and about 3 1/2 feet long. And now, these ball pythons have been given to me and they really really look like Axanthic ball pythons. They have a blue/grey shade to them and have no brown or yellow. Are they true Axanthics? How can I be sure? I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

The only way you can find out if they are a morph is by breeding them.

In all honesty, I doubt they are. My reasoning is that if you look at all the adds out there for Axanthic wild caught snakes, look how many main lines are out there...3! SK, VPI, and Joliff. There may be one or two less known, but even ralph davis got burned by a supposidly "known" english axanthic strain.

Many snakes grow into the color...who knows. Breed them.

Good luck.
