SUBSTRATE QUESTION

twilightfade212 Oct 14, 2004 10:51 PM

I want to create a natural desert setting for my grey banded kingsnake, but I had a question about the sand. Would the regular playsand you can buy at Home Depot work, or is it better to buy the ground up bark that looks like sand that the snakes are able to digest in their stomach? Thanks ahead of time for any responses.

Have you considered the white calci sand . It looks great in a natural looking desert enclosure. Though you might want to feed in another container.
The ground up walnut looks nice to. I have used that but the best look is the white calci sand and the sand sold at home depot is horrible for snakes its dusty and gets everywhere.
It is same color as the safe ground up walnuts so in that case use the walnuts.
