sub-adult has begun digging

umop_apisdn Oct 14, 2004 11:10 PM

well, i noticed my sub-adult female crested gecko digging around a little lately. at one point, i just noticed she had her face buried beneath the moss. later i gave them a treat, and when she came up to the dish of baby food, she started nedging herself beneath the male, who was feeding. just wondering if this is a possible sign shes broken them sub-adult/adult barrier? i would love to get some eggs soon, for now im working out hatching a pair of eggs a friend gave me.

All of our adults seem to enjoy digging, or are just compelled to do it. While I can’t tell you at what age this starts (since only adults get laying boxes), we’ve seen egg production start within a few months of observing this behavior.

Then again - we have males and females lined up outside of the laying box waiting their turn to dig. The act of digging must simply interest both sexes…
