Question about AFTs >>>>

Hi!

I currently have 2 leopard geckos (and are incubating 6 eggs) as well as numerous other pets and I want to get another type of reptile to add to my menagerie of animals. I wanted a beardie, but I am afriad I don't have room for a 40 gallon tank so I was thinking of an AFT. I know that they like it more humid and cooler than the leos but other than that, is there a really big difference in husbandry???
I was thinking of keeping it in a 10 gallon (or 20 gallon long) tank on paper towels (no risks of impaction) with some humid hides, fake plants, dry hides, the works. With a heat pad for heat and a low wattage light for a day/night cycle. Can anyone point me to a good informational site on AFTs??? Thanks!!!

hi.

sounds like you have things under control. i usually use some form of solid lid, like glass or plexi, to keep humidity in. just make sure the cage can cross ventilate.

normal hatchlings fetch about 25-30 USD.

Husbandry is very simular. If you use paper towels, which is fine, you want to use a humid hide on the warm and cool ends. This will accommidate their need for higher humidity. Everything else is very simular to Leos. I keep mine a little warmer not cooler than my Leos. Normals shouldnt be more than around 50.00 and that may be high now days but they are a little more than the average Leo normally. If you email me I can send a link to a good Aft care sheet.
