Water Tempeture for 3-4" RES

RavonTUS Oct 15, 2004 09:37 AM

Greetings,

After my last failed attempt to raise a RES, I'm at it again.

This time someone has given my a 3-4" RES. It's about 2 years old and has had an interesting life. "It's been lost in the back yard for about 2 months, now we just keep it in a fish bowl", said the previous owner.

You know that really bugs me. My dead RES had a big tank and a wonder life and died 5 month into it. So, this new one will probably die of enviromental shock.

Anyway, my question. With the baby I kept the water about 80 deg. Any idea what tempeture I should keep the water at for this older, larger RES?

The lower 70's is fine, just make sure he has a nice warm basking spot. Make sure he can swim well also, sometimes turtles that are kept in small bowls need to stregthen their muscles before being able to swim well.
