Some beccari pics... my female's "doing that thing" also..maybe its in the air...

Hey Y'all,

here's some pics I took of some of my beccari..

This pic was taken two days ago, of my female beccari.. She was noticeably a bit fuller and rounder in the lower abdomen, didn't think much of it, but snapped a couple of pics anyways....

This pic was taken this morning, she is in that awkward looking hanging position, and looks HUGE.... She is also real sluggish today, no quick movements, etc... Perhaps she is cycling, or maybe even gravid.. I have been away from my animals for most of the day lately, so I haven't been around to whitness any cops, or 'different' behaviors between my group. I am going to put in a couple of nesting boxes/areas for her tonight, if in fact she is "with child". That would be really exciting, as my last group of females, as some of you might remember from last year, died, both while gravid/cycling. Time will tell

And lastly, a pic of the subordinate male in my beccari enclosure(2.1- the other two females I have are still in quarantine enclosures). Just thought I'd share...

Take care everybody, have a great day!

Y'know Bob, not counting anything else on the forum, I would still visit daily just to see the pics you post and the reports of your endeavors. Bravo amigo, I can only hope I have the success in the future you are having today. Cheers!

good stuff, Bob. Looks like something's up, for sure. Good luck with her!

Great pics, as usual. You sure seem to have some randy monitors! But I kind of feel sorry for your subordinate male. He looks depressed! (you could almost hear the 'sigh') Hope he gets to have a girlfriend soon, so he can join in the 'festivities.' One of these days, you're going to be overrun with monitors (I hope, I hope, I hope)!

hahahaha... Leslie, I couldn't have described it better...he does look like he's about to let out a big sigh....."Woe is me"...hahahaha

About this male; I originally purchased him a long time ago, as a female for my definite, dominant male. He had a lot of feminine characteristics, including a circular tailbase, small head, and smaller overall build.. Well, with daily feedings, the "she" started looking more and more like a he, and I am now convinced that he is in fact a male. It doesn't affect the social structure of the group, from what I can see; the two males were actually living alone for almost a year, after the fiasco with my two females. Hopefully, when some space opens up here, and I am able to redo and move around some of my other cages, I will have another cage for him; I have a female designated for him, but she's still in quarantine, not too satisfied with her current condition to introduce her to other animals, as she has a poor feeding response off tongs, and is still a bit lightweight... Another couple of months and she'll be perfect.. By then, I'll have the cage for the pair.

Cheers Leslie, hope everything's well with you, Talk to you later, have a wonderful day,

bob
