Usually, you call an animal LTC if it doesn't seem to have any problems associated with WC, but you can't be sure it was actually captive-bred. For example, I bought an adult female that never had a problem feeding or parasites or anything like that. Not a scar on her, so she's as good as CBB to me. But, if I wanted to sell her I wouldn't want to post her as CBB, since I don't know it to be true. Instead, I'll call her LTC.
Hope this helps.
Everyone seems to have nice photos on here but myself. I know everyone says the camera phone is terrible but i think it has possibilities.
So what does LTC stand for?

You were correct Long Term Captive.
George
My bad.
You were right about the acronym - "Long-Term Captive." But it doesn't necessarily mean it was "Wild-Caught."
Brian
ok, that makes a little more sense. You don't want to advertise that you have a CB or CH if you really don't know. So, you advertise it as a LTC.

one of the most critical things to take into account is how long was it in the wild before being caught. It is very hard to simulate the actual breeding season down to a T. if a female has had many years of wild breeding sometimes it can take many more years to get her to cycle when we want to and under our conditions. I've had decent luck with females less than 1000 grams with them breeding about 2 yrs into captivity after they start feeding. I've never tried to get these females that are 2k grams or larger to breed so some of the other people could help you out more there. remember every new morph came from wild stock somewhere and big breeders pay alot for new stuff out of africa so it's very possible to breed WC and LTC animals. a BAD dog is MADE not bred, support the American Pit Bull Terrior as the greatest breed of dogs on Earth!!!!!
I really don't have much of a basis for comparison (since my only BP breeding experience so far has been with LTC) at this time. But my girl had a clutch last year (which I killed in incubation), and looks like she's going to give me another chance this year.
this spring, I hope to breed two of my CBB girls that I've had since babies, so I'll be able to draw a comparison. Though, since LTC could very well be CBB, I don't know how valuable that comparison would be!
Brian
I don't know...I'm just guessing here...and waiting for someone to correct me... =)
