cwgx Oct 15, 2004 04:26 PM

Hello, ive been intrested in wtfs for quit a time but hvae now decided to get one. i know this form is full of questions for people like me for tips on geting started but im a little of a diffrent situation. well i have a 30 galon tank that measuers 24"long 12"wide 16" i imagine that should be big enough. my first question is if i could possible keep more than one in the tank? Im in a pretty good situaton im only 12 but ive been breeding leopard geckos for like a year and keeping them for 3, i currently have 5. Thats leaeves me with a couple large tanks not being used(i keep them indivuly as babys). Im not to worried about price cause i currently have about 250 to spend with my mother spliting the actual animal with me and making money for refing soccer and selling geckos at herp shows.then we come to the substrate i can get potting soil but im not sure about moss, and for plants ive got a list of safe plants but i was wondering would a wtf like a small pound? ive got a pump and waterfall that im not using(because the water fall leaks so it would have to be in water).also i was wondering if a uth was acceptible it would be handy cause i have one from when my gecks were in the cage if necissary i could place a low growing plant over so that it wouldnt be out in the open.my final question is were to purchase these a canadian place would be great twee that was ammed at u but u.s store would be ok to anyhelp is apreciated sorry for an spelling or such errors

I feel so special. I had a question aimed at me. As you may or may not know, I am also twelve. My terraum is the sime size as yours, even the same demensions. I am houseing two in it currently, and would NOT go over two. The general rule for houseing whites is 20 gallons for one, plus 10 gallons for each additional frog. Keep in mind, they grow to be large, so you should give them very sturdy plants to live in. I use two large, sturdy branches, exo-terra thick vine (not heated) exo-terra fake pothos, and other additional fake plants (4 in total) plus 2 ground-dwelling live plants which keep humidity up. The little one loves them. I dont have room for a snake plant, so I use an angel plant and some other broad-leaved plant. My terraum cost me about $250 with the tank, so you should be fine. I dont use moss, the crickets allways hide under it, but if you hand feed, fill your boots. As far as a pond goes, WTF's are not good swimmers, and sometimes drown, so I would not reccomend a pond, but you could do a false bottom and run a stream through it, if you have the patience that I dont have. As far as the store goes, I use petsmart. Theres lots of them nearby, and they have all you need. They will custom order a froggie for you if you ask the manager. Therereally nice when your a big customer like us . I got mine from southwestern pets, which is very good. I am trying to breed my leo, so I may bug you for tips. I've gotta wait to see if the juvinile is male or not. *crosses fingers for male* Err.... forgot the rest of the question. Did I miss anything?
