It's terribly simple when you know.. simply terrible when you don't!
So many are so hung-up on size/slant of tail.. or concavity of plastron.. etc.
LOOK AT THE "ANAL SCUTES".. (applies to a lot of various sized torts).. MALE ON LEFT.. so he can easily manipulate his....
You gotta love 'em!

These are 4" Indian Star '00 sub-adults. Note width of ANAL scutes on male.. on the left. I agree with Carl 100%
